A Tiger Needs A Lion
“When a tiger needs a lion, they call in a lawyer known as the Lion.”
—Becca Moore (Chapter 13) Tony Dungy once said, “Especially in tough times, people will want to know if your actions measure up to your words.” That truth became painfully clear during this chapter of our lives.
We took heat from every direction. So many people believed they knew the story—but they didn’t. They couldn’t see the sacrifice behind the scenes, the sleepless nights, the time, the emotional toll. What they also couldn’t see was the strength of the team that stood beside us—people who believed in our story when it would have been easier to walk away. That kind of support was unfamiliar to me, and I will never take it lightly.
Social media exploded, and with it came messages no one is ever prepared to read. Words meant to wound. Accusations meant to shame. Messages questioning our faith, our character, and our integrity. The cruelty was loud, relentless, and public.
The scrutiny was real. What our family endured each day—while still showing up, still smiling, still holding it together—was real. Our kids went to school carrying the weight of adult conversations they never should have had to hear, navigating mixed emotions from friends influenced by whispers and half-truths. This was not easy. Not for any of us.
Yes, we had a lawyer. And yes, this chapter helps fill in the blanks and answer questions many have carried. But more than that, it speaks to a deeper truth: integrity matters. If you stay rooted in your morals, your beliefs, and your intentions—even when it hurts—truth will eventually rise.
Rumors fade.
Character remains.
And the truth, always, finds its way into the light.
