Review That Went To My Heart
I have to share this because it shook something deep in me…
My college roommate—someone I lived life alongside, laughed with, shared space with—started reading my book. Halfway through, she stopped and sent me this:
“I’m on chapter 5… every nerve in my body is tense. My heart is aching and I can’t put it down. I hate that I lived with you and never knew the pain you endured. I want to hug you so tight right now… I can almost feel the weight you’ve carried all these years leaving your soul. This had to be so healing. I’ll keep reading… I just had to stop and tell you—my heart is hurting for that little girl. Sending you so much love and healing prayers.”
I felt every word of that.
And it made me realize something we don’t talk about enough…
You can share a home, a classroom, a team, a life with someone—and still not know the battles they’re silently fighting. Some people carry their pain quietly. Some learn how to function, smile, achieve… while breaking inside. Some find a way out—and some are still trying to.
We have to do better at seeing people.
At being aware.
At holding each other accountable, yes—but also leading with compassion, with softness, with care.
Because you never know when the person next to you is carrying a story that could break your heart… or inspire your soul.
When she finished the book, she left a review… and I cried. Not because of the pain—but because the purpose landed.
That’s why I wrote this.
To reach the ones who feel unseen.
To give a voice to the little girl who didn’t have one.
To remind you—you are not alone.
If you read it… I’d love to know what it stirs in you.And more importantly—how can I help you heal?#memoir #author #healingjourney #traumarecovery #youarenotalone #purpose #womenwhowrite #realstories
