Steel Hollow Series - Lights
Here is a little glimpse into my new fictional series Steel Hollow:
The smell of fall hung in the air like a secret waiting to be told. Close your eyes and take a deep breath and you can catch it—the faint scent of firewood curling from chimneys, the earthy sweetness of flowers surrendering their final petals to the season. Fall was beautiful in the town of Steel Hollow, almost deceptively so.The hills that wrapped around town looked as though they had been set ablaze. Burnt orange, deep crimson, and flashes of gold stretched across the landscape, so vivid they seemed painted by a Hollywood set designer instead of nature itself.
Steel Hollow rested quietly in the valley beside the river. Once upon a time, it had been a town of noise and motion. The mills glowed through the night. Storefronts stayed busy. Blue-collar workers crowded downtown bars after long shifts, swapping stories and arguing football before heading home. Every shop window proudly displayed the same message:
GO RAVENS!
The town had changed over the years. The mills no longer roared the way they once had. Buildings sat empty where businesses used to thrive. But if there was one thing Steel Hollow refused to lose, it was football.
